Borovets is the oldest winter resort in Bulgaria & is steeped in history dating back to 1896. It is situated 1300m above sea level in the protected pine forests on the eastern part of the Rila mountain range.
The nearest neighbouring town is Samokov just 12Km to the North & is only 73Km south of Bulgaria's capital, Sofia. Sofia is our recommended destination to fly to if you're looking for flights, but more about that in our cheap flights to Borovets article.
